Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet affirmed, in a session held today, Dec. 23, chaired by King Salman bin Abdulaziz, that the high-speed electric railway project linking the Kingdom and Qatar will support mobility and enhance tourism and economic activity.

The Cabinet said the project will become one of the region’s most prominent development initiatives and a key driver of Gulf integration and connectivity through an advanced railway network, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

According to data available on Argaam, an agreement was recently signed to implement a high-speed electric passenger railway project between Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

The high-speed railway will extend over 785 kilometers, linking the capitals, Riyadh and Doha, passing through key stations like Al Hofuf and Dammam, and connecting King Salman International Airport and Hamad International Airport.

The train will operate at speeds exceeding 300 kilometers per hour, reducing travel time between the two capitals to approximately two hours.
