Saudi Arabia’s United Pharmacies Group has fully acquired shares of Kunooz Pharmacies, owned by Global Health and Beauty Co., in a deal valued at more than SAR 100 million, with the aim to strengthen its position in the pharmaceutical retail market.
In an interview with Asharq TV, United Pharmacies CFO Mohamed Abdulwahab stated that half of the deal value will be financed internally, noting that the acquisition is intended to reposition the company in the market and boost its market share from 10% to 13% by the end of 2026.
United Pharmacies plans to open 100 new pharmacies during 2026, bringing its total network to 600 stores, in addition to the branches added through the Kunooz acquisition, which will be rebranded under the United Pharmacies name, he added.
Abdulwahab also revealed that the company is working on two additional acquisition deals, one of which is expected to be the largest in the sector’s history in the region, with completion anticipated in H2 2026.
He further noted plans to expand into the GGCC region and Egypt over the next five years, either through pharmaceutical retail operations or manufacturing.
