Changes to commodity, service prices in February

Average prices of 69 out of 169 commodities and services across 10 categories in Saudi Arabia moved higher year-on-year (YoY) in February 2026, data issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) showed.

Prices of 93 goods and services decreased, while seven remained unchanged.

Among 100 items under the food and beverages category, Central African lemon recorded the highest price rise of 40.62% in February followed by locally produced molokhia (+15.48%).

Meanwhile, local round onions saw the steepest decline, falling 34.85%, followed by white cabbage (-27.40%) over the same period.

Among 38 items under the housing, utilities and fuel category, prices showed a mixed trend in February, with 23 items up while 15 declined YoY.

Most items in the pets, related products and cultural services recorded higher prices in February, with four gainers and one decliner.

Prices of 10 items in the clothing and footwear category were mostly lower, with declines across the majority of items.

Personal care and related services showed a mixed performance in February. Two items out of three posted higher prices.

Household goods and maintenance recorded broad-based declines, with all tracked items posting lower prices. Notable drops included dishwasher (Fairy), which fell over 10%, and laundry detergent (Tide), down nearly 6%, reflecting easing costs across everyday consumer products.

Healthcare costs were generally higher, driven by an increase in service fees. Dental procedures rose sharply by more than 8%, while pediatric consultation fees edged up slightly. In contrast, general practitioner fees saw a marginal decline.

Transport services showed a mixed trend, with oil change costs rising modestly, while car repair services declined by nearly 4%.

Restaurants and accommodation also recorded mixed movements. Food preparation services saw a noticeable increase of around 5%, while furnished apartment rents declined by nearly 8%. Hotel pricing data showed volatility and may require further verification.

Tobacco prices edged lower, with Marlboro cigarette prices declining by nearly 2% year-on-year.
