RCMC awards SAR 13.3B urban development projects

The Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites (RCMC) awarded six urban development sites in Makkah, covering a total area of more than 2.7 million square meters (sqm), with a combined value of SAR 13.3 billion.
 

In a statement published on X, the commission said the projects are part of a package of strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing quality of life and promoting sustainable urban development in Makkah.
 

The awards are an extension of the commission’s efforts to redevelop priority neighborhoods, improve land-use efficiency, and upgrade the urban environment, infrastructure and public services. This aims to address existing challenges and creating new investment and development opportunities to support economic and urban growth in the holy city.
 

The awarded sites include South Jurhum, Al Khalidiyah, Al Hajlah, East Hindawiyah, South Hindawiyah and West Hindawiyah, which have been assigned to a number of qualified investment and development consortiums.
 

The commission said the projects are based on a comprehensive development vision that prioritizes people and quality of life through the creation of more organized and sustainable urban environments. They also seek to preserve Makkah’s local identity, improve housing, mobility and services, as well safeguard the rights of property owners and residents, while taking into account the social and developmental dimensions of the targeted areas.
 

The projects will proceed through a series of regulatory and technical stages, including the completion of contractual procedures and the approval of plans, studies and implementation requirements, to ensure execution in line with the highest planning and engineering standards while preserving the city’s urban and social level.
