Projects awarded in May 2026 total SAR 30B: SCA

The Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA) stated that May recorded the highest value of projects awarded in 2026, with a total value exceeding SAR 30 billion, through 18 projects awarded across various regions of the Kingdom, while April had the highest number of projects at 23.

In its monthly report, “Overview of the Construction Sector Projects in Saudi Arabia for May 2026,” the authority added that the infrastructure sector led all sectors in terms of financial value and number of projects during May, with 10 projects exceeding SAR 25 billion, accounting for 55% of the total number of awarded projects, followed by the manufacturing and construction sectors with 17% each, and then the water and energy sector with 11%.

In terms of geographic distribution, the report indicated that the Makkah region received the largest share in terms of the number of projects, with 7 projects representing 39% of the total, while the Aseer region led in terms of total project value, exceeding SAR 18 billion, followed by the Riyadh region with a value exceeding SAR 8 billion.

The report included a list of the largest projects by value during May, led by the Aseer-Jazan expressway in the infrastructure sector, along with the Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Road in the Riyadh region, and other major projects in the construction, infrastructure, and water sectors.
 

The report also noted that the top entities in terms of project value included the Ministry of Transport, the National Center for Privatization & PPP, and the Aseer Region Development Authority, through a joint project valued at over SAR 18 billion.

Moreover, the report noted that 20 projects are expected to be awarded during June 2026, more than 47% of which are in the construction sector, with nearly half of these projects concentrated in the Eastern Province and Riyadh. It is expected that the project owners will include the Public Investment Fund, Al-Khafji Joint Operations, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Saudi Aramco, Baoshan Iron & Steel, and the Royal Saudi Land Forces.

The report included a section on the projected GDP figures for the first quarter of 2026, based on a study conducted by the SCA in 2025.

Estimates indicated that GDP could reach between SAR 1.18-1.35 trillion, while the non-oil sector is expected to range between SAR 636-746 billion. Meanwhile, forecasts indicate that the construction sector’s contribution will range between SAR 81-106 billion during the same period.
