Al-Modawat updates on hospital expansion projects

Al-Modawat Specialized Medical Co. provided an update on the expansion works and projects at Al-Modawat Hospital.

The healthcare services provider said given the high utilization rates in 2025 and H1 2026, it decided to increase the hospital’s inpatient capacity by 60% of its current total capacity by expanding the inpatient department in the eastern building.

The second and third floors will be allocated to new inpatient suites, increasing the number of hospital suites by 700%, Al-Modawat said in a statement to Tadawul.

The expansion will be carried out in two phases.

Phase 1 includes preparing the second floor to add capacity equivalent to 30% of the hospital’s current total, representing a 350% increase in the number of suites.

The phase is 70% complete, with the expected completion and start of operations in Q4 2026.

Phase 2 includes completing the construction and fit-out of the third floor in the eastern building as an extension of the inpatient department. The plan is to add capacity equivalent to 30% of the hospital’s current total, representing an additional 350% increase in the number of suites.

Works are expected to be completed and operations to commence in 2027.

The company noted that construction and fit-out works for 42 new clinics in the hospital’s eastern building is complete.

Furniture installation and medical equipment and supplies are currently being finalized, with the clinics are expected to begin operations in Q4 2026.

It added that the 51-meter connecting corridor between the main building and the eastern expansion building is complete and operational, facilitating movement between the hospital buildings and enhancing integration among its facilities.

CT scan unit is installed and operational, while the remaining works and fit-out of the radiology department are underway.

The company explained that it had reprioritized its expansion projects and allocated space and resources at the current stage toward completing the new inpatient suites.

Accordingly, it decided to reschedule the physical therapy department expansion project to a later phase of its expansion plan, in line with the hospital’s operational priorities.

It added that expansion works have been carried out in the waiting lobby in the eastern building.

The space allocated to the men’s gym was also modified to meet operational requirements, with fit-out works completed and operations commenced.

The implementation of the women’s gym and laundry department expansion has been rescheduled to later phases of the expansion projects.

Al-Modawat said the total costs associated with the development remain subject to change, given the ongoing expansion projects and continuous modifications and additions to their scope.

The final cost will be determined upon completion of the project and reflected in the company’s financial results based on the completion rates and operational phases.

The company noted that the stated operational dates remain subject to fulfilling all regulatory requirements and conditions and obtaining the necessary licenses and approvals from the relevant authorities.

According to data available with Argaam, Al-Modawat’s board of directors decided in December 2025 to expand the company’s hospital works, commence a new phase of the expansion, and add new projects at the hospital.
