Avalon Pharma signs MoU with Aurisco Pharma on oligonucleotides

Middle East Pharmaceutical Industries Co. (Avalon Pharma) signed today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Aurisco Pharma for strategic cooperation in oligonucleotides and other complex pharmaceutical products, paving the way for a new generation of RNA-targeted therapies.

According to a statement to Tadawul, the collaboration will initially focus on inclisiran as the first identified project, aiming to establish a foundation for a broader platform of potential products and technologies, including development, technology transfer and local manufacturing in Saudi Arabia.

No contract value has been determined at this stage, the company said, adding that the commercial and financial terms will be negotiated and documented in subsequent final agreements. It also noted that there are no related parties to the deal.

The MoU is valid for six months from the effective date, during which the two parties will agree on the key terms of cooperation for the project.

Aurisco Pharma is a company incorporated under the laws of the People’s Republic of China, with expertise in manufacturing oligonucleotide active pharmaceutical ingredients, pharmaceutical synthesis process development, analytical method development and technology transfer.

The company noted that the partnership will strengthen Avalon Pharma’s portfolio of complex injectable products and support the localization of manufacturing in Saudi Arabia, in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

It added that oligonucleotides are a high-value, rapidly evolving class with promising long-term potential. The MoU puts Avalon on a path to build its capabilities in this field, starting with inclisiran as the first project and moving toward a broader portfolio of oligonucleotide and complex pharmaceutical products with local manufacturing in Riyadh.

Avalon Pharma said the MoU reflects its strategic focus on investing in promising pharmaceutical areas with future growth prospects, bringing advanced treatments closer to patients in the region.
