Abu Dhabi’s International Media Investments acquires The National

International Media Investments (IMI) has acquired ownership of Abu Dhabi-based English language newspaper The National, according to a statement on the United Arab Emirates state news agency WAM.

 

Since its inception in 2008, The National has been owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADM).

 

No reason was specified for the newspaper’s acquisition by IMI, a subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Media Investment Corporation.

 

The National will develop and extend its reach on digital platforms while maintaining a “robust presence” in print, WAM reported.

 

The newspaper will remain at ADM until arrangements are complete for the transfer of its operations to new premises.
