Wall Street ends mixed, records weekly gains
Wall Street stocks ended Friday mixed as markets watched closely White House trade policies, amid weaker-than-expected retail sales data that eased inflation concerns
The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped 0.35%, or 165 points, to settle at 44,546 points, with weekly gains of 0.55%.
The S&P 500 index stabilized at 6,114 points. Meanwhile, Nasdaq Composite gained 0.4%, or 81 points, to close at 20,026 points. Both indices recorded weekly gains of 1.45% and 2.6%, respectively.
As for European markets, the STOXX Europe 600 inched down 0.25% to 552.41 points.
The British FTSE index fell 0.35% to 8,732 points, and the German DAX index was down 0.45% to 22,513 points. The French CAC 40 index rose 0.2% to 8,178 points.
The Nikkei index retreated 0.8% to 39,149 points, and the broader Topix index lost 0.25% to 2,759 points.
Brent crude futures for April delivery declined 0.35%, or $0.28, to $74.74 per barrel, adding 0.1% this week. The US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures for March delivery also fell over 0.75%, or $0.55, to $70.74 per barrel, with a weekly loss of 0.35%.
Regarding gold, futures prices for April delivery were down 1.5%, or $44.7, to $2,900.7 per ounce, with a weekly loss of 0.45%.
