US stocks end in green; Dow Jones gains 740 pts
US stocks closed higher on Tuesday, as investor risk appetite improved amid easing trade tensions between the United States and the European Union. This came after the return from an extended Memorial Day weekend.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 1.78%, or 740 points, to 42,343 points.
Similarly, the S&P 500 Index gained 2%, or 118 points, to 5,921 points, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 2.47%, or 461 points, to 19,199 points.
The Roundhill Magnificent Seven ETF, which offers equal weight exposure to the “Magnificent Seven” stocks, advanced 3.38% to $52.87.
As for European markets, the STOXX Europe 600 inched up 0.35% to 552 points, supported by positive performance across most major stock markets.
The German DAX index was up 0.85% to 24,226 points, and the British FTSE 100 index added 0.70% to 8,778 points. The French CAC 40 index remained stable at 7,826 points.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.50% to 37,724 points, while TOPIX added 0.65% to 2,769 points.
Brent crude for July delivery fell 1%, or $0.65, to $64.09 per barrel.
Similarly, WTI crude for July delivery dropped $0.64 to $60.89 per barrel.
As for gold, June futures ended 1.94% lower, or $65.40, to $3,300.4/oz.
