US stocks close higher on improved investor sentiment
US stocks ended the session, on Dec. 2, higher, supported by improved investor sentiment amid positive performance in cryptocurrencies and technology shares, helping Wall Street recoup some of the previous session’s losses.
At the close, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.39%, or 185 points, to 47,474.
The broader S&P 500 gained 0.25%, or 16 points, to 6,829, while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.59%, or 137 points, to 23,413.
Across the Atlantic, the Stoxx Europe 600 settled at 575.65 points, with declines limited by a 0.45% rise in the utilities sub-index and a 0.17% increase in the oil and gas sub-index.
The UK’s FTSE 100 closed flat at 9,701, Germany’s DAX rose 0.51% to 23,710, while France’s CAC 40 fell 0.28% to 8,074.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 was unchanged at 49,303, while the broader Topix edged up 0.10% to 3,341.
