Wall Street closes lower, Dow gains over 140 points
US stocks closed lower on Monday, pressured by a weaker semiconductor sector as investors awaited Nvidia’s earnings report due later this week, while a decline in Treasury yields helped curb the losses.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 0.74% to 65,528, while the broader TOPIX grew 0.15% to 4,073.
Brent crude futures for October delivery fell 2.35%, or $2.22, to $92.17 a barrel. US Nymex crude futures for October delivery declined 2.35%, or $2.05, to $85.01 a barrel.
Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.36%, or $17.2, to $4,697.80 an ounce.
Semiconductor stocks came under pressure, weighing on the broader US market, while lower Treasury yields provided some relief to Wall Street as investors awaited inflation data and a speech by Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh later this week.
