Energy companies around the world – excluding U.S. and Canada - added 12 oil and gas rigs in June, bringing the total count to 1138, General Electric Co.’s Baker Hughes energy services firm said in its closely followed report on Friday.
The figure increased for the fifth consecutive month by 179 rigs when compared to a year earlier.
Middle East’s rigs increased by three rigs month-on-month (MoM) to 413 rigs, and rose 21 rigs compared to the same month last year.
Worldwide, oil and gas rigs increased by 39 rigs MoM in June bringing the total number to 2,221 rigs, and rose by 89 rigs from June 2018.
