MAWANI says container handling rises 24% to 694,800 TEUs in January

Saudi ports reported a 24% rise in containers handled to 694,800 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) in January 2023, compared to 560,100 TEUs in the same month last year.
 

In a statement, the Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) said that outbound containers increased by 18% to 206,200 TEUs in January 2023, compared to above 175,000 TEUs the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, inbound containers rose 26% to 220,120 TEUs, compared to January, 2022.
 

Transshipment containers also increased by 28% to 286,500 TEUs, compared to 210,500 TEUs in January, 2022.
 

Saudi ports handled 2.1 million tons of foodstuff cargo, a rise of more than 12% compared to January, 2022.
