The volume of demand for school supplies increased by more than 80% compared to last year, with the start of the new 1445H (2023/2024) academic year today, Aug. 20, the Saudi Press Agency reported, citing a study by the Federation of Saudi Chambers.

About six million male and female students are enrolled in public, private, international and foreign public schools.

Retail outlets, school supplies stores and bookshops across the Kingdom witnessed an active movement by students and parents towards the purchase of backpacks, notebooks, stationary tools and school uniforms, which contributed to a significant leap in sales and earnings of the school supplies sector.

According to the report, the back-to-school season is a key commercial season in the Kingdom, contributing to boosting economic activity, in general, and the school supplies sector in particular. Industry-related merchants offer major promotions and discounts that pushed demand and sales volumes to high levels.
