US oil inventories rise 2.9M barrels last week

US crude oil inventories unexpectedly rose in the week ended Dec. 15, data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed. Gasoline inventories and distillate stocks also rose during the same period.

 

Crude oil stocks increased by 2.9 million barrels by the end of the week, versus expectations of a decrease of 2.3 million barrels.

 

Last week, the US gasoline stocks rose 2.7 million barrels, while distillate stocks were up by about 1.5 million barrels.
