Saudi Arabia will be the world’s hub and a global key destination in the next few years, driven by hosting the 2029 Asian Winter Games, Riyadh EXPO 2030 and the 2034 FIFA World Cup, the state-run SPA reported, citing Minister of Transport and Logistics Services and Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Saleh Al-Jasser.

Continuing success and achieving the Kingdom’s ambitious goals needs concerted effort and solid performance, Al-Jasser added.

Saudi Arabia moved up 14 global ranks on the IATA's Air Connectivity Index 2023 to the 13th place. It also held advanced positions in the shipping and logistics services sector, which encouraged global companies, such as Apple, to set up distribution centers in Riyadh.

Further, Al-Jasser highlighted the key role played by the aviation and air transport sector in supporting the Kingdom’s economic growth and sustainable development.
