US oil inventories drop for first time this year: EIA

US crude oil inventories saw a higher-than-expected drop in the week ended Jan. 12, data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed. Gasoline inventories and distillate stocks rose.

 

Crude oil stocks decreased by 2.5 million barrels during the week, versus expectations of a drop of 600,000 barrels.

 

Last week, the US gasoline stocks rose by 3.1 million barrels. Distillate stocks were up by about 2.4 million barrels.
