Saudi Arabia’s contracting sector size doubled in 2023 and 2024 to nearly SAR 280 billion annually, Zakria Al-Abdulqadir, Chairman of the Saudi Contractors Authority (SCA), told Asharq TV.

This size is expected to triple starting in 2025 to reach SAR 1 trillion annually.

Saudi Arabia will sign three contracts worth SAR 1.8 trillion until 2030, Al-Abdulqadir said, expecting this move to raise the contracting sector’s contribution to GDP from the current 6%.

More than 15,000 contractors are registered in SCA, he added, underlining the need for more contractors as the total number of contractors registered in the Ministry of Commerce exceeds 200,000.

SCA aims to qualify contractors for the projects launched by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and other governmental or quasi-governmental companies in Saudi Arabia, Al-Abdulqadir added, pointing to other consulting services and the price index that serves contractors and covers more than 10 products.
