US stock markets are closed today, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day, resuming tomorrow, Tuesday.
Variation prevailed in US stock indices during the last trading session of last week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average settled at 39,069 points by the end of trading but hit a weekly loss of 2.35%.
While the S&P 500 climbed by 0.7%, or 36 points, to 5,304 points, it remained stable, almost unchanged throughout the week.
The Nasdaq Composite jumped 1.1%, or 184 points, posting a record close of 16,920 points, extending its gains for the fifth week in a row.
In terms of currency performance, the US dollar index, which gauges the greenback's strength against a basket of six currencies, plunged by 0.12% to 104.59 points at 01:03 pm Makkah time.
