Al Gassim Investment Holding Co. (GACO) announced today, May 20, recent updates on the filing of a lawsuit against Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) to claim the remaining revived area.

In a statement to Tadawul, the company said that it received from its lawyer today a judgment issued by the Administrative Court of Appeal, refers to the cancellation of the appealed judgment and re-judgement to reject the lawsuit.

The company also affirmed that it will proceed with the necessary statutory and legal procedures to claim ownership of the remaining portion of the land it has revived.

In June 2024, the company filed a lawsuit with the Riyadh Administrative Court to claim the remaining revived land after the committee’s decision.

In August 2024, GACO received an administrative court ruling in Riyadh, stating it lacked jurisdiction to hear the company’s case against the ministry regarding ownership of the remaining revived land area.

In December 2024, the company said the Administrative Court of Appeal ruled to accept its appeal against MEWA over the revived land claims. The court overturned the previous decision and referred the case back for review, according to data available to Argaam.

GACO announced in January 2025, that the Riyadh Administrative Court had issued a ruling annulling the decision of the Disputes Review Committee, which had been set up to consider disputes arising from the application of the provisions of the Wasteland Law. The ruling must be appealed within 30 days.
