A CNBC survey revealed that US President Donald Trump will nominate Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett to lead the Federal Reserve after Jerome Powell's term ends.
Hassett topped a list of 11 candidates, ahead of Fed member Christopher Waller and former member Kevin Warsh.
But when respondents were asked who the US President “should” pick, Warsh took the No. 1 spot, closely followed by Waller and former St. Louis Fed President James Bullard. Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman was in fifth after Hassett.
Most survey respondents believe Powell's upcoming remarks at Jackson Hole will be neutral, given Trump's pressure to cut interest rates.
