Northern Region Cement Co. signed a contract worth SAR 32.6 million ($8.7 million) with Sinoma Overseas Development Ltd., a Chinese engineering and cement industry player, to build a 20-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Turaif Governorate.

The agreement follows the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model. Under the contract, Sinoma will handle full engineering, procurement, delivery, installation, civil works, trial operation, and project commissioning, the company said in a statement to Tadawul.

Northern Cement explained that its scope of work includes all buildings, offices, infrastructure, fences, and gates within the project site. It will also undertake the project’s engineering design based on the contractual terms and conditions.

It expects the positive financial impact of the project to appear in 2026 once operations begin, adding that the financial impact will be assessed in Q4 2026.

The 10-month contract will come into effect upon the issuance of the notice to proceed, Northern Cement noted, adding that there are no related parties to this agreement.
