US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent sees that both Kevin Warsh, a former Federal Reserve board member, and Kevin Hassett, a White House economic advisor, are qualified to lead the Federal Reserve, succeeding current Chairman Jerome Powell.
In an interview with Fox Business Network on Tuesday, Bessent stated that one or two more interviews may be held this week to select the next Fed chair, and that President Donald Trump could announce his decision as early as January.
He added that Trump was very frank with the candidates during the interviews, asking them about their views on the Fed's policy, structure, future direction, and the economy.
