US natural gas inventories fell less than expected during the week ending Dec. 12, according to data released Thursday by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).
The data showed a decline of 167 billion cubic feet (bcf), compared to expectations for a decline of 169 bcf.
U.S. gas inventories are 1.7% lower than the same period last year, but 0.9% above the five-year average of 3.54 trillion cubic feet.
