The number of bank branches operating in Saudi Arabia increased by the end of 2025, for the second year in a row, after successive declines between 2020 and 2023.
The number of branches reached 1,910 by the end of 2025, from 1,905 a year earlier.
This stability in branch numbers coincides with banks’ accelerated digital transformation, as banking services via smart applications and online platforms now cover most customer needs, reducing the need for expansion in traditional branches and lowering operating costs.
The number of bank branches in Saudi Arabia recorded steady growth between 2006 and 2017, rising from 1,289 branches to a peak of 2,076 branches in 2019. It then moved into a gradual decline between 2018 and 2023, before edging up slightly in 2024 and 2025 to stabilize at 1,910 branches.
