CEDA reviews Saudi economy, Vision 2030

The Council of Economic and Development Affairs (CEDA) held a meeting via videoconference on Sept. 6, reviewing a number of economic and development reports and taking the necessary decisions and recommendations.

The Council began by reviewing the quarterly report of the Ministry of Economy and Planning, which covered key developments in the national economy and its growth outlook amid rapidly evolving geopolitical dynamics, as well as opportunities to enhance its competitiveness, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The report highlighted the resilience of the Saudi economy and its ability to withstand regional challenges, while annual inflation remained among the lowest globally at 1.8% for the third consecutive month in July 2026.

It also showed that the purchasing managers' index (PMI) for the private sector remained in expansion territory for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 53.1 points.

The Council reviewed a report submitted by the Strategic Management Office (SMO) on the performance of the Saudi Vision 2030 realization programs and national strategies for the first quarter of 2026, highlighting progress toward targets and key qualitative achievements across the Vision’s pillars.

It noted the continued positive performance and qualitative achievements of the Saudi Vision 2030 realization programs and national strategies despite regional developments, underscoring the resilience of the Saudi economy and its ability to adapt to regional and international changes.

The Council also reviewed the periodic report submitted by the National Center for Privatization, covering key developments in the privatization ecosystem during the first half of 2026, the performance of supervisory committees, major activities, and key strategic projects.

The presentation showed notable progress in overall performance, as well as in the number of privatization and public-private partnership projects.

During the meeting, the Council also reviewed a number of procedural matters, including the draft regulation for the Global Tourism Academy and the 65th annual report of the General Auditing Bureau.

The Council was also briefed on key strategic investment and development projects in the Eastern Province, the updated regulatory guide for programs for people with disabilities, the quarterly economic outlook report, and the economic report on international partnerships in the economic sector.

It also reviewed the semiannual report of the Ministerial Committee for the Social Support and Subsidies Ecosystem and the monthly report on implementation of the executive plan to host the headquarters of regional and international intergovernmental organizations or their regional offices in the Kingdom.

The Council was further briefed on the findings of the monthly executive summaries of the consumer price index (CPI) and wholesale price index (WPI), the quarterly summary of the Real Estate Price Index report, the monthly executive summary of foreign trade, and the underlying reports on which those summaries were based.

The Council took the necessary decisions and recommendations on these matters.
