Saudi banks’ credit provisions up 2% in 2015

Saudi-listed banks saw a 2 percent increase in credit provisions to SAR 6.86 billion in 2015, compared to SAR 6.75 billion in 2014, data compiled by Argaam showed.

 

Seven out of 12 banks recorded higher credit provisions during the period. Bank Albilad set aside credit provisions worth SAR 78.7 million last year, compared to SAR 7.5 million in 2014.

 

National Commercial Bank (NCB) saw credit provisions surge by 61 percent year-on-year (YoY), followed by Alinma Bank, which registered a 36 percent increase over the same period.

 

Meanwhile, Bank Aljazira and Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) reported a YoY decline in credit provisions of 86 percent and 47 percent, respectively.

Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB), Saudi Hollandi Bank (SHB), Banque Saudi Fransi (BSF), Saudi British Bank (SABB), Arab National Bank (ANB), Samba Financial Group (Samba), Al Rajhi Bank and Alinma Bank saw higher credit provisions in Q4-2015, when compared to the previous quarter.

 

Combined credit provisions for Q4-2015 jumped 7 percent to SAR 1.8 billion, compared to SAR 1.6 billion in the same period last year.
