Saudi private sector employment up 2% in 2016

The number of employees working in Saudi Arabia’s private sector grew by 2 percent year-on-year (YoY) to 10.8 million by the end of 2016, recent data issued by the General Authority for Statistics showed.

 

The number of Saudis employees in the private sector stood at 1.81 million, accounting for 16 percent of total labor force in the sector. The number of expat workers in the Kingdom reached at 8.96 million.

 

Total male employees edged up 1 percent YoY to 10.03 million for the same period, while the number of female workers jumped 12 percent YoY to 736,700.
