Eleven migrant laborers died of asphyxiation and six were injured after a fire broke out on Wednesday in a windowless house they shared in the Najran region of Saudi Arabia.
All victims belonged either to India or Bangladesh, the civil defense directorate said.
Prince Juluwe bin Abdulaziz bin Musaed, governor of Najran region, has ordered an investigation into the incident, state news agency SPA said.
The governor expressed “disappointment” on the lack of control on expatriates’ lodgings in the region and questioned the role of field inspection teams from the municipality and civil defense.
