The size of Saudi Arabia’s information technology (IT) market including IT services, software and equipment is $12 billion, while the Kingdom’s emerging technology market size is $10 billion, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Wednesday, citing the Kingdom’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Abdullah Al-Swaha.
“Saudi Arabia made great progress in the transformation to the digital economy. It seeks to become the largest digital market in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA),” Al-Swaha said on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain.
Al-Swaha expected the Kingdom’s smart cities projects to contribute around $2 billion to gross domestic product (GDP) by 2030.
