US stocks rose at the close of trading on Monday, backed by a rebound in major technology shares and lower oil prices after US President Donald Trump backed away from launching additional strikes against Iran.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 1.32%, or 693 points, to 53,178, marking a fresh record closing high.
The S&P 500 gained 1.48%, or 110 points, to 7,600, finishing near its all-time high, while the Nasdaq Composite jumped 2.13%, or 540 points, to 25,913.

Technology stocks regained momentum as confidence grew in the value of artificial intelligence spending following strong corporate earnings. Meanwhile, lower oil prices and easing concerns over escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran boosted investors' appetite for risk.
