US crude oil inventories increased for the first time in three weeks, data from the Energy Information Administration show

US crude oil inventories increased for the first time in three weeks.

 

Commercial crude inventories rose by 2.4 million barrels during the week ended Aug. 29, compared to expectations for a decline of two million barrels, data released on Sept. 4 by the Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed.

 

Meanwhile, gasoline inventories fell by 3.8 million barrels, while distillate inventories — including diesel and heating oil — rose 1.7 million barrels.
