Qatar has been named the world’s richest country, where per capita gross domestic product (GDP) based on purchasing power parity (PPP), was estimated at $146,000, a recent report by Global Finance showed.
As many as 184 countries were classified based on PPP in light of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) data for 2014.
Luxembourg and Singapore took the second and third places, with per capita GDP of $94,200 and $84,800, respectively.
Among the Arab countries, Kuwait came second, while taking the fifth place among world’s countries with $71,600. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, with $67,200 and $56,300, respectively. Both countries were ranked 7th and 11th on the global list.
Bahrain and Oman were the sixth and seventh among Arab countries, with $52,800 and $44,900, respectively. They ranked 12th and 22nd on the global list.
Rankings are based on the GDP of a country, which compares the generalized differences in the cost of living and standards between countries.
